A new light for a familiar place
A flexible lighting concept for a former church
In our own village center, a former church was repurposed as a community center: a place where people gather for activities, performances, and events. For a building with such a rich history, we didn’t want lighting that imposes a single fixed atmosphere, but a lighting concept that moves with everything that can happen in the space.
One space, many atmospheres
The limited budget forced us to think smartly: not every atmosphere requires a new fixture; often, the right control of the existing light is enough. We developed a flexible lighting concept that allows the space to take on a different identity each time, from functional light for daily activities to a warm, festive, or more pronounced setting for special occasions.
With the right lighting control, the experience of this historic space changes in just a few steps, without the need for new technology every time.
“Light that enables different atmospheres gives a space more than one life.”

Lighting that carries the story of the community
The central lighting elements were also given a special meaning. They were realized together with local residents. As a result, not only the building but also the lighting itself carries the story of the community that gathers there. In this way, light gives a familiar place a new life: flexible, connecting, and ready for many forms of encounter, from a quiet afternoon to a busy event.
