Living by the water
A lighting plan that follows the surroundings during the day and takes over the architecture in the evening
At the water’s edge, living takes on a different rhythm. The open architecture, large glass surfaces, and clear lines connect the interior with the surroundings, and that fact immediately determined the logic of the lighting plan. During the day, natural light plays the leading role. As soon as evening falls, the outdoor lighting gradually takes over that role.
“By the water, the light changes naturally throughout the day; our task is to give the evening that same tranquility.”
Joris,
lighting architect
Light that makes the architecture almost weightless
The lighting concept was fully integrated into the architecture, rather than standing apart from it. Sleek light lines follow volumes and passages, targeted accents bring relief to natural stone and other materials, while indirect light makes the custom work seem almost weightless.
In the living areas, decorative glass Bocci fixtures provide a unique character without breaking the tranquility of the whole.
The experience continues outdoors as well
The same line was also extended outdoors. Facades, trees, terraces, the jetty, and level differences are carefully highlighted.
They give the home a completely different experience after sunset, without losing the sense of peace and space.
A home that changes with the light
What looks sober, white, and minimalist during the day takes on more depth and warmth in the evening. Light redraws the architecture and guides the transition from inside to outside. Not by being present everywhere, but by appearing exactly where it adds something.
In this way, lighting becomes not an addition to the home, but a natural part of living by the lake.
